You’ve been given the go ahead from the bank or provider that your funds have cleared, so now you can actually go and buy the equipment you need to start this exciting new journey in your life – but what do you spend your money on??

It is so easy to get caught up in the moment and buy all the pretty things which will make your sleepovers look gorgeous, but it’s important to try and make your funding stretch the furthest that it can to ensure you have enough funds to buy the staple equipment as well as the pretty things too. This blog aims to give you a little bit of help with regards to what we consider you definitely do need before seeing what money you have left to buy the lovely things.

sleepover tents to hire

The first thing you need to consider is how many tents/teepees are you going to buy to start off with? We believe that 2 is a must, however if you can afford more then 4 would be a better option. That way, you can possibly do two set ups of 2 per night you wish to work, as well as offer a larger number. Also consider the colour of your tent covers. If you are starting out on a limited budget, ivory is a great one to start with. It doesn’t show as much dirt as white but it is easily accessorised for the different themes. Once you have become established you can begin to add pops of colour if required. We, obviously, believe that our tents are the best. Once you’ve decided how many, the next big decision is what sort of mattress are you going to use? Air beds are a cheaper alternative, however they do have a tendency to pop and are you going to leave a spare one incase this were to happen during an event. There are other mattresses available from different companies – the thicker the mattress, the more expensive but are they more comfortable? Some mattresses are provided with protective covers already on them, but if not you may want to buy protective covers to extend the life of your mattress. A mattress which we have heard a lot about and our customers rate highly are Mollydoo. Click here to visit their website.

At some point you do need to think about the fun stuff – and what better than the themes you are going to offer? It’s good to think about this prior to actually choosing your sheets, blankets etc because then you can think about how you can utilise staple equipment across multiple themes. We recommend choosing between 2 and 4 themes to begin with. Themes which can be used for different genders are ideal but it’s also nice to offer something pretty and something a bit more macho.

When choosing your blankets, cushion covers, bunting etc it might be a good idea to think about what you can use for different themes, which then means you are getting multiple uses out of your equipment. For example, you will want to offer a Christmas set up and you may not have got extra funding to buy new blankets etc by then. Therefore, red would be an ideal colour to choose. This can also be used for other themes such as movie nights, gaming and maybe even fairytales or woodland. We manufacture themed bunting and accessories and if you’d like to view what we have on offer, please click here.

Equipment which you may not have considered when setting up, but still extremely important are things like transport – how will you get your set ups to and from the venue? This may have an effect on which tents you buy initially but also how you might store your equipment. How will you set up the equipment when you are there? You may need to invest in an electric screwdriver!!!!

That being said storage is important too! Are you going to use boxes with lids, so things don’t get dusty and dirty inside? Or are you going to use large bags which are a little more manageable for carrying cushions etc and squash into spaces better?

Have you got yourself a decent sized washing machine and tumble dryer that will cope with multiple sheets, blankets etc? And indeed a space to dry items which can’t go in the dryer? A high quality iron would also be ideal along with a good sized ironing board.

Once you have your staple equipment and you have had fun buying all the accessories for your themes – what will you do with any cash that is left?

We have some ideas for that too!!! But that’s for another time 🙂
